“We are confident that Malayalis’ favourite actor Jagathy Sreekumar will resume his onscreen duties by next year,” says Parvathy Shone, daughter of the veteran actor, who is currently recuperating at a hospital in Vellore.
She informs us that the actor’s health has improved considerably over the last few weeks. “He is now able to sit up, on a wheelchair. He has also started recognising faces of close relatives and friends. He has begun working on respiratory exercises. The air tubes should be removed within a month’s time,” says Parvathy.
She also tells us that the actor has been undergoing physiotherapy and that has helped him regain limited function in his limbs, which were paralysed due to the injuries sustained in the car accident three months ago.
“His willpower is so strong and that’s what drives him. His doctors are also confident about his speedy recovery,” says Jagathy’s daughter, adding that within one month, the actor will be moved to the hospital’s rehabilitation centre to undergo vigorous physiotherapy.Parvathy also says that after having acted in more than 1,100 films, it might be tough for the actor to take complete rest for the next few months as he has always prioritised cinema in his life for the last 37 years.
“We are confident that he would return to doing what he does best soon,” she says, thanking the people for their constant support and prayers.
